For this community focused podcast we are learning more about Focus On Community, a Racine based organization  focused on preventing substance abuse and promoting healthy living within our local schools, businesses and homes. CSB Market President, Steve Donovan sits down with Focus On Community's Executive Director, Jason Meekma and Western Racine County Community Outreach Coordinator, Christina Converset to discuss what the organization is doing to create awareness and how the community can help them continue to implement their mission and programs.

Local builder, Bower Design and Construction, heard of Faith Hope & Love’s idea and saw a connection to their business...home. In this unique interview, Community State Bank Senior Vice President, David Moyer sits down with both of the couples to discuss what need this home will fulfill for local foster children, how two local businesses are making it happen and how others can help to get the project started! Imagine that everything you owned fit into a trash bag…It’s not a thought that comes to mind every day for most of us, but it’s something Heather and Mark Logeski think about every day.  Heather and Mark work closely with foster children, and time after time, children in need of a home would arrive on their doorstep with a single trash bag, containing everything that child had. The couple saw this as a major issue and, in response, began an organization known as Faith Hope & Love. Faith Hope & Love is designed to support children in crisis by providing them with duffel bags filled with basic health and wellness necessities. These duffel bags are then distributed by local professionals, such as social workers and police officers. It all started when Alex Hart-Upendo was bullied for testing as gifted at the young age of 5 years old. Alex decided to take the hurtful words and turn it into something positive…bow-ties. Now at the age of 10 years old, Alex has begun his own Build-A-Bow business, written a book and has been featured on TV shows such as the Harry Connick Jr. Show and local news stations.
